Music and the arts
St George's is a church filled with music.
The sanctuary has a 2 manual Casavant pipe organ installed in 1949, and a grand piano, which are expertly played by the musicians who make up our Music Hub. Guest instrumentalists join for special services as well.
We also have a small, and enthusiastic choir who often perform an anthem or lead us in sung Psalms.
Our Priest, frequently leads us in sung Eucharist.
The Huron Harp School rehearses Tuesdays in our community hall and also occasionally add their gifts to our Sunday services.
We are privileged to host many concerts and theatrical performances. Past productions have included a reading of the play "Doubt" in partnership with the Goderich Little Theatre, Thomas Beard and friends string quartet, Landon Vieira jazz Quartet, Mike Crocker and Jeanette Sears in concert, and the local high school bands who perform each Shrove Tuesday as part of our Pancake supper celebration. This is just a few of our performances.
Music and Majesty has seen us be part of the Bach Walk involving the audience moving around various near by churches to hear the organists and pianists play everything from classical to contemporary music
We look forward to more performances this fall and winter, including a performance by the Knitting Pilgrim on October 16, at7pm, a community choir and more organ recitals. Check back for specific dates and times.
