Come one, call all, for the ultimate musical bar crawl.* The Bach Walk will begin at Knox Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday November 30th. After a half hour of a little light baroque, we'll walk to North Street United for 30 minutes more, before crossing the street to St. George's where we'll cap our final half hour of music with some light refreshments. And who knows, perhaps next year we'll have "Rovin' Beethoven."
* perhaps the first bar crawl with no bars or beer involved.

Shepherds, wise women, and Mary (oh my)!
This past Saturday, during the Goderich Christmas Parade, some of our kids and volunteers took to the streets to show off just how much fun we have at Messy Church. We brought the baby Jesus, a thurible (for the frankincense, of course), and a shepherd's crook (for the unruly sheep). Everyone seemed to agree that one particular angel swept the crowds off their feet, though a good time was had by all. Our next Messy Church! is Sunday December 1st, 4-6pm here at St. George's hall. Kids bring your adults for time together, crafts, a bible story, songs, and a shared meal. I'm sad to say that, due to sickness among the leaders and some of the children, Messy Church will be cancelled for Nov 3.
Look for us in the Santa Claus Parade, and on December 1 @ 4pm. This year, the Bishop's charge to synod–a traditional direction setting statement from Bishop to synod–was accompanied by the publication of a Diocesan Plan, a way forward for all of us, a way to turn to grace, accept our dependance on God alone, and embrace that the world around us really needs what we have–the world needs God, and the world needs prayer. There is so much to worry about, and so much to think about, it's time to reconsider our identity in Christ as the great gift of God to us, and the best of invitations to a world desperately in need of it.
You can read both documents (and even smaller summary of the Diocesan plan) using the links below, or you can download the PDFs here, too. BISHOPS CHARGE TO SYNOD DIOCESAN PLAN An old anglican adage (in Latin) reads: "Lex orandi, lex credendi." It means, roughly, that we pray what we believe. That our faith is shaped by our prayers. That's what we do every Sunday morning. We pray, we read our scriptures., we pray for the world, the sick, our leaders, and ourselves. We ask God to be with us in our lives and through our sacraments. We shape our prayers to shape our faith, and the whole liturgy is meant to immerse us in the world of faith.
But what does it all mean? If it is going to shape us, we should probably understand it, right? Well, you might be interested to learn how our prayerful worship shapes us. You may want to join us on a Sunday morning for our communion. Or you may simply want to explore what you've been doing your whole life. In either case, you're welcome to join us on Wednesdays (either 9:00 am or 6:30 pm) in our chapel, where we will pray together and take time to explore and discuss what we are doing, what it means, and what it means to us. I'd love to see you there. The Ballagh family are coming to St. George's on October 27th at 3pm. They'll sing, they'll dance, they'll drum, and we get to watch and listen. You can get tickets at the door ($25), but you won't want to miss it. We have video evidence to prove it. Take a look, and come on over. This Sunday, the good folks at St. George's church are going to pack it all up and move north for the day. Our 11am service will be cancelled so that we can all join Christ Church, Port Albert, as they celebrate their 135th anniversary. That particular service will be held at 9:30 at the Port (7 London Rd., Port Albert), and we'd love to see you there! I hear there will be cake...
This morning, the St. George's Holly Berry Bazaar planning committee met to plan this year's festivities. You're in for a treat! Come see the fruits of their labour in St. George's Community Hall on November 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. See you there!
